Vacation in the Rocky Mountains is an independent educational travel publication for people planning vacations in the Rocky Mountains of Canada and the United States.

The site covers national parks, gateway towns, seasons, scenic travel, accommodation, family trips, activities and mountain safety. It does not sell tours, operate lodging or provide emergency, medical or backcountry-guiding services.

Our scope

We treat the Rockies as a broad two-country region. Banff is important, but it is not the whole range. Coverage includes Canadian mountain parks and communities as well as major U.S. regions from Montana and Wyoming through Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.

Conditions over checklists

Mountain weather, roads, wildfire, avalanche forecasts, wildlife closures and park systems can change after an article is reviewed. Readers are directed to current official sources before acting.
